Hey all!

Built a new system yesterday:

Asrock B450m Steel legend

Ryzen 5 3600 - stock cooler

Corsair Vengeance 2 x 8 Gb ram (3200 mhz - CL16)

Gigabyte Radeon rx5700xt

Seasonic 650W 80plus bronze

TP-Link AC1200 PCIE

1TB Seagate HDD

1TB Samsung SSD

At first I managed to install everything correctly and the system booted up just fine. Everything showed up just fine in the UEFI, changed the XMP for the RAM,  installed windows from a USB device just fine after that and went on to install all the microsoft updates. Thus far, everything was fine.

I then went on to install the remaining drivers for the GPU, ICUE-software for the RGB fans and Dragoncenter for the MSI GK50, google chrome and steam.

Ever since I installed the last driver for the GPU, the system would suddenly reboot without warning. To counter this I thought changing the system startup/restart settings to show me a warning but without succes. The GPU would also get quite toasty although I didn't perform any GPU heavy tasks. (last I ckecked it would run at 60°C I think)

This worsened and got better from then on. The sytem would from time to time reboot as stated before and be stuck in a boot loop (I presume). The fans kept spinning, winding up and slowing down. The GPU fans would ramp up as wel for a little while (aproximately 3 seconds). From time to time I would get a video output, but not all the time. This would continue until I hard resetted the sytem (as in holding down the power button and restarting) and it would run just "fine".

When I tried firing up my first game yesterday when everything seemed stable, the system once again rebooted and I was unable to get any video output afterwards, nor did the keyboard appear to be connected (no lights although it was connected the same way as before)

This morning I managed to boot and check the UEFI again for any errors( just checking if everything showed up) and booted from the install USB to enter safe mode and remove some of the apps I previously installed. Restarted with the same problems and managed to do a reset to last settings in windows from the windows install USB.

Ever since, I get the same issue: The system appears to be booting, all fans ramping up/lighting up, slowing down continuously with an interval of about less than a minute or so, no keyboard or mouse lighting up and no video output whatsoever.

I tried: re-installing the RAM, clearing CMOS, untightening and retightening the cpu-cooler, removing the WIFI card from the PCIE and removing the GPU.

When removing the gpu and booting, I seem to get the most succes: the system boots and runs without appearing to reboot all the time and I get a connection and power to mouse and keyboard. However I don't get a video output to the monitor from the Mobo and am unable to change anything or troubleshoot...

So I am a bit stuck and am hoping for you guys and galls to be of assistance for I am in dire need of a solution...

P.S. I'm new to the PC-building world so please go easy on me

the system seems to be struggling to boot up so maybe set a fail override on your memory?

(in asus boards its in memory timing settings and it tells the system how many times it should try booting up before resetting the settings)

gaming system: Intel core I9 12900ks / biostar Z690A valkyrie / 4x8gb corsair Vengeance @3333Mhz ram / RX 7900XTX pulse gpu / Thermalright peerless assassin 140 /Coolermaster Qube 500 case / Be Quiet Dark Power Pro 12 1500w power supply

laptop: Dell xps 9510, 3.5k OLED, i7 11800h, rtx 3050 ti, 2x16gb DDR4 @ 3200Mhz, 1TB main drive, 2TB add in ssd

Seems like a nice way to go if I were to have any video output. I have none for the moment...

Also, how would one do so? In UEFI I suppose...?

in that case open your case, find a screwdriver and try to find the pins that are responsible for resetting the bios(usually on the bottom of the motherboard)(do it while the system is turned on)and bridge them with the screwdriver, alternatively unplug your system and remove a small coin style battery called the cmos battery, press the power button a few times to drain the systems capacitors and do the whole operation in reverse and voila! your bios is reset

yeah the setting i was pointing to is in the bios

still no results.

As before: with the GPU in place, it keeps booting over and over again. Without the GPU it seems to boot but have no video output even when connected via DP or HDMI to the motherboard.

yeah dont expect video output from the mobo because your cpu doesnt have onboard graphics, have you tried a different pcie slot?

was trying to delay moving to a different pcie slot due to space issues but I tried and this did not work

the last thing you can try is putting the gpu in a friends pc or sth and if it doesnt work rma it(btw have u checked for error lights on your mobo)

no lights on mobo. I believe it'll be a RMA

Thanks for trying this out with me!

UPDATE:

In a last moment of despair, already settled on RMA'ing the GPU. I thought "Why not try it one more time?".

And so I did...

And voila, I managed to get system up and running and reset to factory settings and windows installed.

This had me thinking: Why now? Why did the system manage to boot?

Could it possibly be a faulty wall power plug that does not supply enough power during peak moments since I tried again during the night and way beyond peak moments?

Are any off the drivers faulty?

Should I update the BIOS?

What about a chipset update?

Should I install a previous driver?

Should I nevertheless return the card since it could be faulty?

Many questions still remain and not sure how to go from here...
