A mic is not a component, it's a peripheral...

You still need it (duh).

I do fairly basic recordings (Blue Yeti + Reaper) with my computer just fine.

Not really, you only need a mic if your doing vocals.

Using a mic to record guitars is superior to direct.

So I'm no specialist in professional audio, but I have a friend who is learning and working with it and he uses an external audio recording interface.  Something like this :  http://www.amazon.com/Focusrite-2i2-USB-Recording-Interface/dp/B005OZE9SA/ref=sr_1_3?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1393630225&sr=1-3  (I would get a suggestion from someone who knows better, this is just an example)

Honestly I don't think you need a high end sound card and as for a processor you should look at the system requirements on the software you use and work from there.

Do you know what a component is? I need to know what parts to shove inside of a PC to do professional audio recording, a mic won't record anything without a PC....

I have no idea what a component is. Please tell me.

well think about it how big are audio files are to work with and compare them to photoshop and video editing softwares. modern CPU's are quite powerful

Yeah, Audio samples use a lot of RAM, but you need a decent sound card and processor to compile, mix, and export a track.

Basically just a more professional way of saying the word part.

You actually think I didn't know what "component" means? :0
