Geekbench, Different Scores With Same Hardware On Different Operating Systems

i7 920 @ 4GHz, 6GB DDR3 1600MHz. Exact same hardware. Results:

 

 

Ubuntu 13.04: ~13,000

 

Mac OS X ML: ~12,500

 

Windows 8:~ 11,500

 

 

I've also noticed that in ubuntu and os x, the floating point score is wayyyyy higher but memory performance is somewhat lower than W8.

Yeah that is to be expected. You might want to check out linus' video comparing games on win7 and win8, you might find that interesting.

Interesting results there. I didn't expect Windows 8 to be that much different, let alone better than windows 7! I'm currently on windows 8 and I've actually seen a considerable difference in gaming, there have been fewer stutters every now and then. But windows 8 itself has had a makeover under the hood so its no surprise that it is somewhat better.
