MSI vs Asus mobo

Greetings everyone, and thanks for reading!

 

I've been breaking my head on this. Could anyone help me out with deciding whether I should by the MSI Z87-G45 or the Asus Z87-Pro.

 

Some background info: My setup will be a Intel i7 4770k (plan on overclocking) and a eVGA 780 Ti. I really need wireless connection, not having it is not an option. The Asus Z87-Pro has build-in WiFi, but I don't like the aesthetics (hidious yellow). The Z87-Pro would cost me around €165. The MSI Z87-G45 on the other hand, looks fantastic, but doesn't have WiFi build in. It would cost me around €129.

 

There's quite a price difference. I love a good looking mobo, but prefer quality above esthetics. Could anyone inform me about the differences between these mobo's?

I assume some people will suggest buying a Asus Maximus VI Hero instead, but as far as I'm informed the only difference between the Z87-Pro and the Hero is better sound quality on the Hero (and better looks). Or am I completly mistaken on that one?

 

Also, if I would decide to go with the MSI board, any suggestions on WiFi cards would be welcome!

It's really solid. Don't get a wireless adapter any cheaper than that, you WILL regret it. I know I did. 4 times.

For the price difference you can get a decent wireless adapter honestly.

msi or gigabyte and a wifi card. or if you really want wifi in, take the msi mpower over asus. because it does look ugly

Thanks for the advice! I can buy it for €38, so I guess I will if I decide to go for the MSI

It's hidious indeed. Any experience with MSI onboard sound? Is it equal to the Z87-Pro, or even the Hero? I don't have any experience with MSI boards I'm afraid. Are they as good/reliable as Asus' boards for OC'ing?

its equal to z87 pro.the hero equivalent for sound from msi is the z87-gd65 gaming. ofc they are ,i would put gigabyte over them for OC,but it doesn`t matter for haswell. the vrm is in the cpu

Great! Thanks, I'll go for the Z87-G45 then + WiFi card suggested by JoeyDM. It'll cost me about as much as the Z87-Pro will, but it looks way better. I don't need the premium audio quality the Hero provides. Thanks for the quick responses!
