Target : Build a Server for Application publishing(Virtualization?)

Story : I work in a company where Tally Accounting software is sold and serviced. Customers started to ask for a solutions to work from home due to the recent events of After "Human Malware". There are ways to do it natively in Tally but it is not very stable and fast. So we decided to use a Software called TSPlus which uses RDP to Publish windows applications. We have customers who use more than 20 systems in a company. Now I need help with Building a good System which can handle 20+ users.

  •   What kind of hardware would you recommend for this type of use and why
  •   Which Windows version is optimal for me (Pro , Server editions)  and why
  •   If anyone know about TSPlus or anything about webportal and stuff, please teach me.

if anyone wants to try it here is the Link to TSPlus website

Thanks 🥰

What are the recommended specs for the tally software to run for a single user?

It really doesn't need much in the way of hardware to run. I'd probably just build a low end threadripper system for something like this if you are going bespoke. Or low end epyc if you want to use server hardware with a better warranty.

If you want to go off the shelf something along the lines of the dell R7415 would probably do the job when configured right. I'd be calling up HP, Dell, Acer etc and getting some quotes and using one of them because its for a business so I'd want business support for it.

Specs wise I'd just start with a little over 80GB of ram and something like an epyc 7302p because at 16 cores and 32 threads you are well beyond the requirements for 20 users based on the specs you linked with room for growth from that sort of platform.

Thank you. That was helpful.

Software wise, a Windows Server 2019 Standard should suffice.

In case of Windows Server, setup a remote desktop gateway with a SSL certificate and the other RDS roles and let them connect.

Make sure you buy enough CALs to allow everyone to connect.

TSPlus officials informed us that CAL is not required for using TSPlus. If you could try the app and let me know what you understood from it, that would be very helpful.

the cal are required by microsoft, so to use the rdp sessions, you need the cal, doesn't matter what the program says. Maybe their program doesn't need a cal, but microsoft does

I've tried installing TSPlus on a Dell PowerEdge T110.

OS: Windows Server 2008 R2

Downloaded the setup and opened it. it says Setup integrity check failed! Cannot run this setup program.

Any idea why this is happening?

does it work on server 2019? stay away from using a eol os.

Also this error makes me think the file has been corruped. Try to verify the checksum on it, or redownload it.

Recommended OS is server 2019. I've never had the chance to try on it.

I've tried downloading from it's setup downloader and the setup directly from mirror using different browsers still same issue. I don't know how to checksum on it. Please help.

Does the company have a checksum of the file? Maybe ask their support.

Try a vm of server 2019 and see if you have the error.

I'll ask them about checksum of the file.

I'll try the VM with Server 2019. Thanks

I tried the VM. Everything works fine. It must be the Server 2008 R2's issue. I'll ask the client to Upgrade it. Thanks.

Server 2008R2 is no longer supported, and even server 2012 is losing app support slowly but surely. Keep that in mind.

Also, the T110 is quite old now, could be close to 10 years old now. Hardware wise, it's also up for an upgrade.
