2 days ago, every computer in the house started disconnecting randomly every 30 seconds or so, but the ps4 isn't getting these disconnections. The only way I know to solve this is by using a vpn but I don't want to pay extra. This happened to me before, but the disconnections randomly stopped after about a month. Anybody know why this is happening or how I can fix it?

Most probably your ISP is overloaded, or the cables coming to your home and connecting to the router are degraded.

I don't think that a VPN is going to be of any help to this problem, VPNs are only for securing your connection further, they don't really help your connection speed or reliability.

@Abimbolababatunde, could you include what internet modem and router you are using (please include model and manufacturer, if it's a combo unit and there is only one box then just provide the model and manufacturer of that), also would recommend having at least Cat5 or preferably Cat5e (depending on the ISP down/up speeds) ethernet cables?

Although unfortunately, I am going to have to respectfully disagree with you on this one @Void Master, the cables that are used to bring service into your home and the cables connecting your router to your modem and other devices on a dedicated or integrated switch could carry thousands of terabytes of data over their lifetime and will not really degrade noticeable unless they are exposed to harsh conditions in operation such as hear, direct sunlight, significant + repetitive bending, etc. The more likely case is that the cables are outdated in terms of their rated standard of data transfer and/or bandwidth and a newer standard is needed to get speeds that your network system wasn't initially designed to handle.

I mean the cable dedicated for your house (AKA The cable connecting your house to the nearby pole, or underground connections), i had several cables go bad on me which required me to call the ISP in order to fix them. Copper cables degrade fairly quickly if certain conditions are met. It really depends on his ISP and how they wired up the cables.

The connectors on the cables are usually the problem when the solder behind it gets loosened, you or an ISP technician would be able to easily strip the connector off the cable and put a new one on. The copper cables themselves can actually last quite long since they are likely not left exposed and are protected by a plastic/rubber housing.

Correct, but some isps cheap out on cables that have a really cheap housing. But anyways it really depends on his isp tbh.
