Build Guidance Needed

I'm helping my friend put together a part list for their new computer.

 

Budget (including currency): $1000-$1500 USD

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:

Mostly art, so stuff like photoshop, illustrator, clip studio, working with unity, music production in fl studio, video rendering in after effects, 3d modeling and maybe some gaming.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): 

They have a single 1080p 60hz monitor. They might get a second monitor in the future.

Appraisal isn't the right word. Appraising something means you're assessing it's monetary value.

 

I'd up the RAM. For what they're doing, they don't need an X570 board.

Also, if you wait a week, the Ryzen XT processors should be available at the same price point, to squeeze out a little more price to performance ratio.

Thanks for the heads up! I fixed the title. I chose the X570 to take advantage of the faster PCI 4x SSD. Also because of the board's availability. I originally wanted to go with the B450 MSI tomahak, but it is sold out everywhere.

We thought about it, but they definitely won't be overclocking. The XT CPUs do not come with coolers, so they will need to buy an aftermarket cooler. Thus I wouldn't consider XT processors at the same price point.

B550 has the same benefits and you can get a much less expensive board.

I remember reading/watching that the channel between the B550 chipset and the CPU is still PCIe 3.0, so SSD speeds don't really realize the benefits of PCIe 4.0.

The CPU has a direct connection to the PCIe x16 slot and the first M.2 SSD slot.  The chipset connection does not change this, only 2nd/3rd M.2 SSD slots are PCIe 3.0.  PCIe 4.0 while great for benchmarks, makes no difference in a majority of real world uses.  Pretty much all PCIe 4.0 SSDs can not sustain PCIe 4.0 speeds after their buffer area fills up, the flash memory is not fast enough.

B550 motherboards are nigh unobtainable right now, and my friend really does not want to wait another 3 weeks. B550 seems to be only ~$30 than the motherboard I've currently chosen.
