Wol triggered by Explorer

Hello guys,

I threw together a NAS and it works perfectly, but i do not want to keep it running all the time. Is it possible to trigger Wake on Lan when I want to access it through the Windows Explorer?

Should be quite easy to WoL with a simple ping e.g: https://www.techwalla.com/articles/how-to-wake-on-lan-with-ping. you could create a batch with the command. That could be a quite easy way to trigger der WoL. There might be a way to create a Shortcut to the NAS and combine that with the batch i guess.

 

Edit: Could work with a .bat where you first ping the NAS and follow it by a %systemroot%\explorer.exe "C:\Path\To\File" But I'm not too sure if the NAS will be woken up quickly enough for the command to work, maybe give it a try.
