I am deciding between a 16:9 144hz monitor and a 21:9 100hz monitor. They are both 1080p. Im not worried about gpu power (I have a 5700xt) but I would love to know if there is a big difference. I had a 240hz monitor (ran it at 144hz) then sold it and downgraded to a 75hz. Is there a noticable difference between 100hz and 144hz? If there is the trade-off worth it for 21:9 vs 16:9?

Few things here, 100hz and 144hz dosen't make much of a difference depending on how picky you are, 1080p may be a problem, i'm assuming this is for gaming, which means you'll be close to the screen, if that's the case i wouldn't go bigger screen inches on 1080p.

Past 24 inches tends to be more blurry as the screen's pixel density is stretching making it less crisp and clear, but it depends on the person if you care about that or not.

In my opinion, above 24 inches you'd want to go 2160p (2K) or 4096 (4K) resolution, however 4K while it's good, takes a heavy tax on GPU power, so my advice is to go for a 27 inch 2K monitor, or a 32 inch 4k monitor.

However it's up to you.
