Is this normal behaviour?

Hi Guys,

 

So recently I've noticed these little spikes in my GPU utilization every 30 seconds or so when idle, after a little detective work I found out the culprit was Windows Desktop Manager, I've never noticed this before and wasn't sure if this is how WDM behaves out of the box or something I should look at fixing.

GPU usage spikes all the time on idle 

Let's say you move the cursor it will spike

For the most part it should be fine.

PC: Motherboard: ASUS B550M TUF-Plus, CPU: Ryzen 3 3100, CPU Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34, GPU: GIGABYTE WindForce GTX1650S, RAM: HyperX Fury RGB 2x8GB 3200 CL16, Case, CoolerMaster MB311L ARGB, Boot Drive: 250GB MX500, Game Drive: WD Blue 1TB 7200RPM HDD.

 

Peripherals: GK61 (Optical Gateron Red) with Mistel White/Orange keycaps, Logitech G102 (Purple), BitWit Ensemble Grey Deskpad. 

 

Audio: Logitech G432, Moondrop Starfield, Mic: Razer Siren Mini (White).

 

Phone: Pixel 3a (Purple-ish).

Don't see anything regular like that on my setup, but it could be any of the programs you're running causing that.

Figured it out and I feel like such an idiot.

 

I had my desktop background set to change every minute, because I was worried about burn-in when I had my PC connected to my OLED TV, the spike is every time the desktop background is changed.
