Budget (including currency): £1250

Country: UK

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: I'd like to be able to play Star Citizen but that's a big ask. I render a lot of 3D CGI stuff for work and there is an overlap with being able to play AAA titles with the same hardware.

Other details: I'm upgrading from an old PC but the parts are a good 3/4 years out of date that I want to build a new machine and potentially just keep the older one as a backup rendering machine. Any recommendations for decent monitors too would be amazing (4K if possible)

Thanks in advance!

Well the 5700xt is the equilavant of a 2080 super maybe better, so for graphics it will be better bang for your bucks. And if since you plan on doing gaming I don't think you'll need 32gb of ram. But the extra speed will greatly improve performance

defintely, the rx5700xt is an absolute bargain and performs better than the 2060 super for almost the same or cheaper price. youre also getting a MUCH BETTER B550 motherboard, instead of the cheap b450 thats listed there. much faster memory as well, which ryzen cpus hugely benefit from, instead of the listed 2400mhz listed, which is irrelevant as of now.

You could go with a cheaper psu to get that 32gb of ram though

its not equivalent to a 2080 super, no way. but its suffiecient for his needs.

the 5700xt is a competitor to the 2060, 2060 super and 2070 super.

If you bought an oem off an external site for like £20, you could afford the 32gb of ram

@Robot_Crab i would suggest for you to wait until 7th july for the 3600 XT refreshes to come out. if you can wait longer, wait for 4th gen ryzen. much better IPCs and overall a newer generation; it can only benefit you. even if they arent affordable, the older cpu prices will drop massively and youll get a newer and much better gpu or something.

if you can wait EVEN MORE longer, then new generation 'ampere' and 'big navi' gpus will come out, further giving you more performance for lesser costs

It trails the 2070 Super. Better than a 2080S? lol

I'd really suggest you build your own rig. The part selection for that prebuilt is far from optimal.

Alternatively, if your rendering software can only leverage the CPU, you could get a 3700X instead and drop the GPU to a 5700XT - the models I'd suggest are the MSI Gaming X, Powercolor Red Dragon and Sapphire Pulse.

the stock cooler that comes with the 3600 is a little lacking, but it is not bad either. its upto you if you want a fan cooler or an AIO, but you wont need to spend north of 50-60 USD.

those are OEM keys that you can find on various websites, and are no different from the windows version you would buy for a 100 pounds.

IF you want to build your own, consider this list. You will get better performance and higher quality components if you build your own, however it requires time, extra effort and can be a hassle if you have to return parts.

Few thing to note:

-if you got 16gb of ram and a 3600 (more than enough for gaming) you could get a 2080S. This would be the best config for a purely gaming pc.

-if you want to get the most value and don't care about nvidias extra features, the 5700XT is only slightly worse than the 2070S for a decent saving, so get it instead

Hope this helps :)

The 3700X will perform better in most rendering tasks. Also included a nice cooler and case, so the system is nice and quiet.

Just get a cheap windows oem key online.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

You are spending more money for less performance (CPU at least).

That Ram is expensive, considering the kit in my list is only £22 or so more for double the amount.

The 5700XT is better value and isn't much slower than the 2070 Super. Saves another £100+

I would look at Arctic P/F fans as a cheaper alternative.

if you dont feel comfortable buying windows from places like cdkeys and kinguin then you could but windows straight from microsoft. £120 tho! This power supply is overkill for now but will last you for ages even if you chuck a 2080ti in there. It is also modular so much easier for cable management. You dont need 32gb ram at tht moment and you can always add it in later. If you dont think you need all that storage then you can always just use a 1tb ssd or 500gb ssd and 1tb hdd
