I have an ASUS g751jl I installed a wdblue 256gb ssd it is initialized and recognized by windows I already installed windows on it through an external usb.( changed boot option to usb then did normal process however I am not tech savvy I may have messed something up so please feel free to ask). It shows up in file explorer but when I open windows boot media it doesn’t show as a bootable option. My uefi doesn’t show it either I tried removing hard drive and leaving ssd but It just took me straight to my uefi. I used the ready post thing before coming here just kinda had given up after a few hours of troubleshooting.

I am assuming your WD 250GB SSD is the what is coming up as  '179GB free of 232 GB'.

You are still booting into Windows from your 1TB HDD, and NOT through the SSD.

This is why you see the SSD as a normal storage device.

You need to change boot order (and boot priority) to the SSD in the UEFI BIOS.

Make sure the SSD is not set as RAID mode or something.

Do windows key + r, then diskmgmt see if the drives shows up there. Also why do you have windows on 2 different drives? You need to format the hdd to use the ssd as the boot drive, hope this helps

There is an extensive guide on the ASUS ROG forums on how to install Windows 10 "properly"...

  • Did you disable CSM?
  • When you went to select the boot USB, did you select the UEFI option?

i disabled csm and ssd doesn’t show up in uefi at all for that matter neither does the HDd it just shows an option called windows boot manager

I'm saying when you were installing Windows on the SSD, did you disable CSM BEFORE going through the install process?

Your laptop is seeing the HDD as the boot drive, and the SSD as an ordinary storage drive, when it is booting from the Windows 10 image on the HDD.

I’ll check up on what u guys mentioned today and check back tommorrow.

The OS drive showing up as 'Windows Boot Manager' is fine / correct.

That is the drive the computer is detecting where the OS is installed on.
