So this is my first build and everything was working fine until i plugged in an older gpu my friend gave me for encoding.

Mobo = ASRock B450 steel legend

Cpu = Ryzen 5 2600

Gpu = gtx 1650 super

Ram = 2 8gb T-Force 3200

Psu = Thermaltake smart 430w

-----------------------------------------------

We plugged in the older gpu to use the encoder for obs and now all of the onboard leds blink red and nothing happends it just blinks no beeps. Ive looked all over the forums but they talk about the rgb headers. Not the mobo blinking red and not posting. No fan spin no nothing. We unplugged the old gpu but still nothing its an older amd gpu.

You didn't try to plug the AMD GPU into the system...WHILE the computer is still powered on, did you?

If you put parts in, take parts out without shutting the computer down, you WILL kill things.

Which LEDs on the motherboard are you talking about?

Can you point them out on a picture of the motherboard?

According to AsRock, the B450 Steel Legend doesn't have any debug / troubleshooting LEDs.

Sorry its in the sunlight but the leds behind the gpu on the asrock plate are also red bo change

I see the LEDs flashing.

It looks like the board is trying to power on, but it's tripping every 1-second or something.

How did you clear CMOS?

Make sure you disconnect the PSU from the wall socket, and take the CMOS battery out for 5 ~ 10 minutes.

Are you able to test the other parts in another known working system (either one at a time or all at once)?

  • RAM
  • GTX 1650 Super
  • PSU
  • CPU ... if compatible motherboard

I am thinking PSU (since it is a lower quality unit) or motherboard....may be damaged.

I shorted the connector on the motherboard one of my friends said that would clear it so take the batter out and wait a while ok

Shorting the connector or taking the battery out is the same thing.

In BOTH methods, you NEED to disconnect the PSU from the wall socket first.

If the board is still powered (via standby power from the PSU), the CMOS won't clear.

Hey,

Sorry to hear that your PC is not posting after you installed a new graphics card.
Can you try to use the card you were using before ?
Like mentioned before, you should make sure to clear CMOS and try again. Try to resit the components if needed as I guess that you had the PC on a case, so you probably moved it around.
