PC not recognizing microphone

So, windows recently wanted me to update it, it showed the: "PC will restart several times". i thought it got bricked or something because it wasn't normal! Anyways, the update worked fine and everything but then i wanted to game with some friends but i noticed my microphone was not working. the headset is fine, no hardware problems and is not muted. sound comes out but does not record. I searched the Web for answers, i found that uninstalling and reinstalling microphone drivers would be helpful! but when i navigated to the device manager, and went to the audio tab, i didn't find my mic since it was not recognized or detected by windows. it seemed strange because it was working completely fine yesterday!

i contacted some advisor from Microsoft and he wanted me to delete the update. i didn't delete the update since it will increase vulnerability of the device and will cause file corruption.

Can someone help? I am  really confused.

You could actually try rolling back your update. What microphone is it? 3.5mm or usb?
