So a little backstory recently i bought a r5 3600 off amazon,(which I have sat in my closet till the motherboard and GPU come) and he keeps saying that for just gaming his i5 9600kf is better, I can see that in certain scenarios. But since I see games these days wanting more cores and threads not just higher clock speed. I of course went online on tom's hardware forum and found my answer for it really depends on the story.(this wasn't really needed I just wanted to vent my frustation). But then when I went on the topic it was always comparing the i5 9600k. What is the difference between the cpus, I know that they both can overclock. But what does the f stand for?'Failure', 'Flunked', 'Fuseless'

The f means it doesn't come with an i-gpu

It's usually cheaper

If you already have a 3600 keep it

It's a lot better

If you absolutely don't need a PC now and can live with what you got now wait for zen 3 unless you already ordered the parts
