Hey guys, so I have ExpressVPN on my Desktop and Laptop with zero issues. However it acts very weird on my phone. For starters, it doesn't even work on mobile data unless I use the IKEv2 protocol. Anything else and it doesn't work at all. It also periodically just kind of "breaks" my internet. And the only way to get things to load is to either force close the app I'm in, and restart it, or sometimes just opening the ExpressVPN app then swapping back to the original app kind of sorts it out. Has anyone had similar issues? Is this common?

Thanks for any help.

Using a paid VPN for security reasons is kind of counterintuitive. You're just handing your traffic on a silver platter to whoever the provider is, along with all of their (potentially) sketchy and disgruntled employees.

Use SSL/TLS when you visit sensitive sites and call it a day. VPNs are a complete waste of money 99% of the time unless you need to dodge geo restrictions.

I beg to differ. Part of the reason I'm buying one is travel, and work, and personal security. I don't want my ISP tracking me, as well I want added security from possibly malicious people, as well as to cover me during certain. I also hardly consider disgruntled employees a threat to me compared to other risks, as well as getting a VPN from a reputable company isn't "serving your traffic on a silver platter".

I don't know anything about SSL/TLS, but I'll look into it, but that wasn't related to my question at all, but thanks for the input.

VPNs can track you just the same as an ISP. The main difference being that ISPs are regulated and VPNs are not.

As far as "malicious people" I assume you're referring to man in the middle attacks, which again, are much more easily facilitated when using a paid VPN. You're trusting your traffic not to be manipulated by a small random unregulated business.

If you don't know anything about SSL or TLS, you should look into it because it would enlighten you to how paying for VPNs for your listed reasons are rather pointless.

I will look into it, but int he mean time, like I said it doesn't answer my question. But thanks for the input.

How does using a VPN open me up to attacks? I also find it highly unlikely that a highly reputable company that offers a paid service, specifically in the realm of internet privacy will be manipulating my data, especially when they don't even log/save it to begin with. I just find it highly unlikely. Especially due to my work and where I travel having a VPN is highly unrecommend.

Making a blanket statement saying VPNs are useless and counter intuitive is like telling someone antivirus is useless and counter intuitive.
