Hello guys

I've been using "X299 TUF mark 1" for about a year and a half now and I've found that the time from power on button until the first screen appears takes about (15) seconds
My question is:
Is that normal, because it took a shorter time in the past about (8 sec) and I did bios updates several times to no avail
Note: I unattached the hard disk and all components and it's still the same time.

If you write more things to the drive

It could slow down in boot times and read and write speeds in general

But that difference is not even noticable I would ignore it

thanks for your reply, I got the point, but although I removed the hard drive to test the time, I saw a video on YouTube where someone had a similar rig and the boot time was horrible, about 2 mins to the first screen and he upgraded the drive to NVME M.2, and suddenly the time from power button to Windows desktop is 3 secs, is that fake or something , or if I were to upgrade the hard drive I can reach a similar time?
sorry i didn't mention that but sometimes boot time reaches 5 minutes from power button to desktop, and I tried to install Linux and the usual time for both Windows and Linux was about 1-2 minutes.

Please clarify what you mean by time to first screen. Do you mean the bios boot screen? Or do you mean Windows?

In your list I don't see a SSD. If you get one and put the operating system on it, it will make a very big difference to boot times, but only for the Windows loading part of it.

I mean bios boot screen, and that is my main problem, it is annoying me and I was planing to upgrade the rig, but I want to make sure that my problem is the ssd.

Unless they have windows and only windows

That is most likely fake

You will notice a significant improvement in over all system responsiveness

I'm not sure how much hardware initialisation is done at that point, but it could include ram training, and maybe other device related stuff. You can try going through the bios and disabling any hardware features you don't actually use and see if that helps. Not that I'm sure there is much to disable.

On the "3 seconds" to Windows thing, we have to keep in mind that Windows now has Fast Start. This is a kinda system only hibernate feature. The OS state is saved, but no user state. It is possible that could be used to give apparently fast boot times.
