i was just casually watching youtube, and then i saw that an app was using my microphone.  i went to see what it was, and it was svchost.exe.  I know thats not a virus, but i never experienced this kind of this.  any suggestions to what i should do?  i dont really know where to say this, so sorry if this is the wrong place.

have you run an anti virus check? also check in with microsoft. go to support and ask if there is a problem.

svchost.exe is a host-process from Windows that is used to run all kinds of services. So if you have a background service that uses the microphone, that would explain why it seems "svchost.exe" is using it (the process hosted by the host-process is using it).

If you right click the "svchost.exe" entry in task manager, there should be a "go to service" that should take you to the actual service that is being hosted.
