I got 2 m.2 ssds one nvme one sata, on my motherboard I got one nvme m.2 slot and one sata only slot, but by some reason my sata m.2 ssd only works in a nvme slot, while nvme one works in both.

So if I want to use both I have to put them in reverse which limits my nvme ssd speed.

This is really bizzare to me, any solutions?

Specs:

X370 taichi, 2700x, nvme ssd - Samsung 970 pro, sata ssd - wd green.

Does the BIOS see both drives, in their respective slots...?

... or is this the BIOS you're talking about...?

Can I realistically call myself a gamer, if I only play ONE, twenty year old game...?

Did you test boot it, before you built in into the case?

WHY NOT...?!

Bios only detects the wd green ssd in the first slot

... the Samsung doesn't get seen in either slot?

So; Samsung in slot one & WD in slot 2 gives one drive seen...?

Sounds like the second slot is disabled, when the first slot is occupied.

Are there ANY other S-ATA devices attached to the other ports?

Sometimes you'll get lanes shared between S-ATA & m.2 ports...

Quote from your user manual:

Check the connector on the drives to see if they're "keyed" correctly.

Found this: https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/X370 Taichi/index.asp#Storage

Could be that the WD drive may not be supported by slot 2.

It's not on the list, but Samsung is also not on the list, so I'm not sure if that's the problem, if it's just incompatible that's a bummer.

That would be my 'suspicion', but I'm not saying that it's 100% right.
