OBS - Will this hardware stream?

Hi! I'm a bit of an OBS noob, but I'm looking to stream at 720p, 30fps, 6mbps with an i5-3470 and 8gb of RAM. Weirdly, I need a 4k canvas for reasons, but the stream output will be down-sampled to 720p as I already mentioned. My sources/scenes include some looping video, music, text, audio capture, and elgato cam-link video capture. It's a fairly simple setup, but I just haven't tried streaming it without NVENC hardware encoding and I'm needing to see if the i5-3470 and 8gb RAM is sufficient for h.264 software encoding this stream. I'm really hoping I won't have to get a GPU for this setup. There will be NO other CPU intensive tasks(gaming, etc) running concurrently with OBS. The most that would be running while OBS is streaming is two browser tabs. Thoughts?

you have intel quick sync in the CPU GPU section that should be able to stream.

Good luck, Have fun, Build PC, and have a Wii and PS2 as your only consoles.

Pretty sure the only way to get a reliable answer is to try it yourself.

I've had several occasions where doing seemingly simple stuff in OBS was unusable without a decent GPU. Got bit once when I set up a scene with a browser source for playing a youtube video, worked perfectly fine on my machine with a GTX1070, exported the setup, loaded it on the laptop on location... and it would run at 2 fps. Tried 2 other laptops including one with a 10th gen Iris Plus iGPU, but big nope.

 

 

To clarify the GPU wasn't used for encoding, but was just needed for the composition/processing part of it.

6000kbps is way too much for 720p30. You don't need more than 3200kbps, and can get crisp quality with just 2700kbps and good luck from server side.
