Hey, i just go a used graphics card (ASUS GTX 1060 6Gig /GTX 1060-6GD5 Blower style )  from a friend that changed cuz he as overheating problems.

I dont now much, but he tried to drill holes throu the case to have a better air flow, i looked to the thermal paste and i think it needs a change 

the problem is tha im trying to build my first pc s i cannot test drivers with a working pc. If i could save this GPU i will help me soo much with money .

i now that it work but, if i fire a game it crash (apparently)

Can you give me nome hep to troubleshoot this problem

So, your friend decided that having the card vent hot air back into the case would be better than the original design, which is to vent to outside the case....

If he did not try a reapplication of a more efficient thermal paste.

 

Also, ask your friend what sort of fan curve he was using, where he had his PC, and what temp he was keeping his air conditioning at.

 

All those play a part in cooling.

Gotta agree with the post above.
I think the holes maybe made the problem even worse.

you could just put a new cooler onto the card.

Here is something i found after 5 minutes of searching.

I am sure there are hundreds of different options to that.
