O11 Dynamic Custom Loop Suggestions

Hey guys, so I'm looking into putting my 3800x + 2080 Super under a custom loop. I ideally want x2 360mm rads, and I'd like to do a hard loop. I live in Canada, and would like to keep it under $1000CAD ideally. But the lower the better. I also shouldn't need fans, though I'm playing with the idea of switching to Chromax NF-F12s (but for pricing I don't need fans.). Also any pics of your loop in a O11 would be splendid.

Barrow, Blyski and a few others also do distro blocks for the O11 Dynamic at slightly more reasonable prices than the EK G1, though the quality is a bit lower too. The biggest "problem", if you can call it that, is that these all use DDC pumps which tend to run a bit hot and be a bit noisy compared to the larger D5. It's a bit of a shame nobody makes an off-the-shelf D5 side reservoir for the O11 series, though I know of at least one US eBay seller who does some very nice looking custom ones. I've gone custom for my O11 XL.

In the "standard" dynamic (not the XL) the bottom radiator spacing is fairly limited, so most people only run a 30-40mm; you can get a ~60mm up top but it makes for a tight squeeze with fan cabling and 8-pin connectors. For CPU+Single GPU 2 good quality 360x30mm radiators will provide more than enough cooling at exceptionally low fan speeds (800rpm or less)

Yeah I didn't think I needed anything particularly thick if I'm running x2 360mm. My biggest issue right now is finding Canadian vendors for specifically watercooling parts. I wasn't planning on doing a custom loop, but everything Coolermaster in my PC just shit the bed after a few months, so I figured I should maybe go custom loop instead of spending big bucks on a 360mm AIO.

Not sure on Canadian stockists but the HardwareLabs Nemesis GTS360 is widely regarded as the best slim 360mm rad. They should fit both top and bottom. I'm going to be using a GTS360 as the top rad in my O11D XL

Hydro X build on components from your signature.

- fans and you are near your planned budget.

Thanks. Are those prices CAD too? I thought Corsair only priced in USD. I'm also not a fan of acrylic and RGB, I like the EKWB style more, bu tthis is a great starting point, and gives me the idea that it'll cost around $1000. Thanks!

Yeah I'm thinking I'll grab one of those, I just don't know if I want the one for the front glass panel, or the side intake.

I did say side reservoir. Plus the D5 front distro is crazily priced.

If you know a decent machine shop or have access to a CNC router you could build your own distro plate, with a D5 pump you would probably be looking at less than the cost of the G1 and about half the cost of the Quantum Reflection. This was the one I used as the basis of my custom one which is currently being machined- https://grabcad.com/library/lian-li-pc-o-11-d5-pump-distro-1

For some context, the price I'm paying for CNC work is £100, a D5 is ~£65 and the 3D printing work for the pump mount was circa £15. Even with the costs of O-rings, fixings et cetera, it should still work out cheaper than the G1 albeit without RGB.

That's very interesting... I never even considered something like this. I don't know a shop in my area, or have access to any of that equipment, but it's definitely something I'll look into.

It also occurs to me I also forgot to link to the eBay seller who sells the custom D5 ones, he's US based so probably a viable option for you. Radikult Customs. A bit more expensive than the G1, a bit less than the Quantum Reflection when you account for a D5 pump. Slightly fewer G1/4 ports too so you're more limited on design of your runs.

I'm in British Columbia and managed to get almost all my watercooling items from Ontario, a known shop there called DazMode...  they rival US suppliers in terms of items and stock available, I wish we had something like that out West.

I have the Dynamic XL and I can tell you right now you don't need multiple 360's all up in the case, I am currently doing a week long test to see how well a single 280mm rad  can cool my whole loop, and holy hell everything idles in the mid 20's the CPU maxes at 45c, meanwhile the GPU never goes over 35c. And I have EVERYTHING under water, my CPU/VRM monoblock, a Chipset block, and GPU.... so just that single 280 is doing all that work with Vardar fans, I'm amazed at the results, thought I'd need 2 fat 360's to achieve these numbers.

I still have 2 more 360 radiators coming in shipment but with these results I probably will go with a single 360 and keep the 280 as well just to keep the case nice and clean.

Hmm that's very interesting. What are your specs? I figured that x2 360mm would be a little overkill, but I wasn't sure if a single 360mm would be enough, as well as I'm a huge sucker for aesthetics and symmetry, but I suppose x1 360 could be pulled off cleanly.

Yea 2 of them is too much in my opinion, especially for the non XL version of the dynamic which is a bit smaller. My specs are a 3800x and Gigabyte X570 Master, and going between a 1080ti and a 2060 super, but planning on upgrading to the newer cards when they come out later this year.

As for orientation I tried pretty much every single way you could configure it and I got the best results with bottom exhausting the top intake... This way you have cool air blowing over your VRM's from the top, I'm not a fan of top rad fan exhausting for this reason.

Later on if you want even more cooling you can even add 25mm fan and a slim sub 25mm 360 radiator like EK's SE, or XSPC Ultrathin... you can literally hide both of them in the back of the case the side panel there, so they won't even be sitting inside the case at all taking up any room. I think there is 50mm clearance back there for both the XL and non XL versions of the Dynamic.

Yea here's the pics of how it looks right now before I tear it apart again... I'm a first time watercooler so I had to just freehand a few things here with the GPU and Chipset blocks, there's probably a better way to configure it but I'm not all that familiar with the types of fittings available so I probably didn't do it as clean as it could have been done.

I'm just about to take it apart in an hour after I eat, the rest of my parts coming tomorrow so I'm first gonna try to just go with 1 radiator, a slim 26mm XSPC 360 rad + 3 120mm fans in the side/back of the case right next to the distro block where I have just over 50mm clearance so it should barely just fit.

Gonna run the loop for a while this way to see what temps I get, if they're not good, I will probably add the 280mm back in the loop on the bottom where it is now but I don't really want to do that because it's where I'm putting that 360 water reservoir filled with VUE fluid and it's own pump and separate loop, just for looks

Yea looks funky because I'm using a universal GPU block for my card since the 2060 super does not have a full waterblock available for it as far as I researched, could be wrong.

I have a 1080ti as well, but I didn't feel like spending a few hundred for a full waterblock because I'll be upgrading to one of the newer cards that come out later this year. The rest of the system I'm pretty much sticking with for a few years
