Alternative Storage for RBPi

Hey guys, I would like to know if it is possible to install raspbian into a Hard Drive, connect it to a Raspberry Pi and use it as regular. I know that MicroSD is a good option and make it easy for the installation process. But is there a way to use a HD or a SSD as the main storage and booting option.

I think the new versions of the pi allow for usb boot, so thats possible.

If you're on a model older than pi4, yes.

Do note that this process burns OTP ROM, so you cannot disable USB boot once enabled.
