[HELP] Steelseries ikari laser issue

Seeing linus praise the steelseries ikari laser i got one for myself from a friend
Unfortunately when i plugged it in, the dpi light turned on, the lcd below read "default" i used the clicks, everything seemed to work except the sensor which is the problem. The mouse doesnt move, i have tried a few surfaces like my wooden desk, my pants and razer goliathus mouse pad.
Anyone with a solution???
I have installed the software from steelseries' site...doesnt make a difference.
