asking this gagin since nobody answered

i have a leadtek gtx 650 hurricane II 2GB.

everytime the pc was not in use, aka idle the gpu clock and memory clock would drop to 300MHz both and with my fan curve edit the card was idling at 36c - STOCK COOLING with an overclock and overvoltage in the background

now, same overclock, voltage control and same fan curve its idling at 50c at 1058MHz gpu core clock and 2500MHz memory clock (when i turn my little oc off clocks just drop to normal speeds but not 300MHz like they used too)

any ideas of why?

yeah i am replacing it in a few days but i do want to make sure its still working fine

Did you add another display or increase your desktop refresh rate? Too many pixels etc will prevent the card from idling.

I have to run my secondary 1080p 144Hz monitor @ 60Hz with my primary 1440p 165Hz display to allow my RTX 2080 to properly idle.

tried uaing my other display and got the same thing idle temp at 55

The GPU is fine. This is likely a software issue.

You could still try reinstalling the drivers, also your processor will be a big bottleneck for that 2080. You should maybe upgrade the full system, I think you still are on DDR3, not sure tho.

yeah i know homie

now my 650 is a big bottleneck in games

even my sata drives are running on sata 2 and not 3 cause of my z77x d3h mb:D when ill upgrade ill prob get a 240gb m.2 for my windows and leave my a400 240gb for other stuff like steam library and after effects cache.

im planning on getting a 10900k/10700k next month or wait a bit more to see amd's ryzen 4000 series

my i5 3550 is an INSANE value and performance now days for the games i play - csgo, gta v, warzone, pubg lite, valorant and even the new upcoming anarea battle royale BUT it does show its age when im rendering. even a 1080p 60fps footage - its laggy and unusable so its time for a huge upgrade.

i just found this 2080 for a decent price - 51 dollars difference between this 2080 aorus and a 2070 super aorus (decent for my country at least) so i want to grab it before its too late (even the 2080 gaming oc edition is more expensive then this 2080 aorus...both brand new and not super versions.)
