Do I need a new screen?

I'm using a Dell U3415W its been fairly ok, I didn't really buy it to game and I have had it for 5+ years now. It was originally for work and photo editing.

 

I noticed in TimeSpy benchmarks some frame tearing but that wasn't really a problem, just started playing Jedi Fallen Order and theres a horrible tear across the middle of the screen a fair bit of the time, its really annoying.

 

Is the only way around this a new screen with gsync/freesync?

 

Running 2080Ti (I have 2 but can run with sli or without)

 

If a new screen is the only can someone recommend one that wont break the bank with roughly the same size/aspect ratio?

Just enable v-sync as that is the in-game option that literally disables screen tearing

This, or limit fps to monitor(Hz) 60fps=60hz for example.

I don't believe this screen supports vsync, I already had the game set to limit to 60fps

Vysnc isnt something that affects the monitor. Its system side. So u can use Vsync regardless of ur display.

 

You can also try Fast Sync and disable the frame cap / set it to 120.

awesome, I enabled vsync and that has cleared the tearing, screens only 60hz but that'll do. thanks
