So your saying, if you wanna use any FX chip you cant go with mATX at all, Thats so weird, Well time to tell him he needs a case too

Not quite. I mean some 970 and even 890 and 880 boards have become AM3+ compliant and could run most FXs without issue in lower clocked situations.

mATX is a form factor that gets left out for whatever reason when it comes to AMD.

All I find weird is that, the first few weeks he had his computer there were no dips like this, is the motherboard dieing or something?

Anything is possible. It could also have a feature that will throttle the CPU regardless of settings if it's having issues with power delivery, etc.

So I'm probably going to try and sell his rig on craigs list for $400 and build one without AMD, 750ti + i3 120 gb ssd

Ouch.

I'd avoid low end FX chips and get Athlons on Socket FM2+ in the future :)

Haswell i3 is pretty decent.

Looks like the vrm is overheating. Have you tried to zip tie a fan to your case blowing directly air on the vrm? Preferably a static pressure optimized fan, just generic airflow fans arent going to help. Asrock is kinda known for using cheap vrm >.<

Yea there is an aero cool shark on the front of the case and fractal 120mm ball betting fan on the side literally 2" away from the vrm

I found the issue though the motherboard only supports 95w fx chips the 4130 is 125w... Wish I woulda known that before buying the board, going with a gigabyte one that has 8 pin powr for 60$ it supposedly is made for the 125w fx chips and reviews say it even over clicks the 8350 we'll
