I5 9400f usage

I have an i5 9400f and I was watching videos on it online and in certain games such as assasins creed odyssey and battlefield 5 the cpu usage is at 100 percent should I be worried or is this not a problem?

With 100% it's probably bottlenecking your GPU to reach higher framerates. Full specs? Target fps? Current fps?

It’s not necessarily a bad thing, it just means the cpu is not letting the graphics card be fully utilized.

I5 9400f 16gb ddr4 3200 rtx 2060 super 1 tb hdd 500 gb ssd. I have a 75 hz monitor but planning on upgrading to 144hz in the future

With big open-world games you're pretty much limited with your CPU while doing anything aside from gaming. Had the same experience with my 8600K and that was the reason i switched to a 3700X. Especially AC: Odyssey is known to take advantage of higher core/thread count CPUs. Since my switch from 6c/6t to 8c/16t i've never had this problem. I'd suggest to wait what the upcoming CPUs have to offer as your 9400f should do fine for now.

Yeah I was planning on getting 3rd gen ryzen when it releases the 4600 but I dont know when that would be releasing so I wanted to know if I can wait it out and still get good gaming performance for the time being

Next gen Ryzen CPUs will be released in late 2020. Until then your 9400f should do fine while only gaming.

Oh I thought they were releasing next year? Or is that just the 4600?

They didnt say specifically which ones will be released at what time. Right now we only know there is a refresh of some Ryzen 3000 CPUs called "XT" at the end with slightly higher core clocks in the near future and then Ryzen 4000 starts releasing late 2020.

Ok that's grand I didnt want to get a 3600 as ik the usage is better but the fps is worse or the same in some titles so I didnt think it was worth the upgrade. Is that the right decision or not as I am relatively new to pc building
