Audio problem keep coming back

Hello everyone! 

I have this weird issue with my audio (only with my speakers - not with my headset which are connected via USB) where I get these tiny clicks/pops, I'm not sure what to call them, while fx playing video games. 
I can fix this by removing Realtek(R) Audio from devicemanager and then do a reboot. Then I might be lucky that next time I turn on my PC I won't have the clicks and pops but mostly when I start my PC after it was off or after a normal reboot, the clicks/pops comes back. I can then again remove the Realtek(R) Audio, do a reboot to fix it. 

I currently do not have any drivers installed from Asus website because it doesn't make a difference if I have then installed or not. If I do though, I have to uninstall the driver, reboot, to fix it. Then I can install the drivers again and it works great until next reboot (or turn on after PC was off). 

I'm totally lost of ideas on how not to make the clicks/pops come back. I hope someone can help. 

I have my speakers connected to the 3.5mm jack in my motherboard.

Turn off automatic drivers update. You may find info on internet or use OO ShutUp 10 to set proper variable that stops installing/updating drivers.

 

Then you may install audio drivers and keep them. And they will be the same after restart.

You have two major options:

a) Get the drivers from the MB vendor

b) Get the drivers from Realtek

 

The issue you describe is basically the audio drivers not being installed, as a popping-clicking sound that goes away from driver tampering means it's drivers for sure, where as if it always happens regardless of drivers, is noise generated by the MB itself.

 

The problem with Realtek's drivers, most of the time, is that you have to scrub the drivers from the PC before you start (so you see "unknown device", as installing the wrong drivers once means it always tries to put it back.

 

Because Realtek is also used for USB devices, installing the USB driver after the chipset driver tends to trash the chipset driver.

 

Also, you have to let the realtek installer restart the pc, as that's what it does in the Dell drivers, is that it removes the old drivers, reboots the PC, then installs it, requiring a second reboot. It's a pain in the ass.

 

I actually switched to my Creative Labs X-Fi card because the onboard audio had too much electrical noise and I had no audio from the monitor options at the time. If you have a HDMI audio option, that's another option to plug stereo speakers into the line-out of the monitor.

I'm currently downloading the driver directly from Realtek. 
I will then look for all types of Realtek drivers and uninstall them, then start the Realtek driver install I just downloaded. I hope this works.

I'm trying what Kisai said first. If that doesn't work, I'll try what you say.

I have now installed the Realtek driver. Did the uninstall, reboot, install, reboot and now I've just been ingame and there were no clicks/pops in the audio. 

I will report back here tomorrow when I get home from work after I've tested the audio again - I hope it sticks this time... Thanks again

Clicks and pops are back again - but a bit less than before I think. Using the driver from Realtek. 

Any ideas?

Trying this now - will reinstall Realtek driver and if it works again, then I'll disable driver updates via Windows Update and see it that does the trick

Using OO ShutUp 10 did not help. I reinstalled Realtek driver. Went ingame - sounds where good. Then disabled Windows driver updated. Turned off my PC, went ingame - got clicks and pops again. 

This is frustrating af...

Try to change sound settings. Set your sound to 44100 @ 16 bit (or 48000).

 

Also - you should first disable driver update, then install driver. Otherwise system will install new one anyway, because most of changes you made using OO ShutUp 10 do not work until restart.

Right understood. I see I did it the wrong way. I will try tomorrow. Also, changing audio settings, such as 44100 @ 16 bit and all of those, doesn't make a difference. That is tested.

Hello again. 

Sorry for not saying what happened and so on. 

No matter what I did with drivers, the problem always came back after a restart/turn on of my PC. So I went all in and bought a DAC that connects to my PC via USB and now my audio works perfectly after restart/turn on and also the audio does sound better.
