Do Window Fans Work Well?

Hi LinusTechTips community,

I am wondering if I should buy a window fan such as the one linked within this thread to lower the temperature of a room upstairs during the night (the air conditioner聽is broken), I am planning to install it in the window to pull cool air during the night. Will these lower the temperature of the room much and could I use it in the day as in the exhaust mode when the outside air is warmer, also would I need to remove my window bug screen to install this (preferably not since I don't want it to accidentally fall out of the window 馃榾)?
