System will not POST, red CPU light

Hi,

I just build a computer and the system does not POST. A red CPU light comes on, there's a quick flash of white on what looks to be a built in RGB strip? (Rev 1.0, near PCIe slots) All fans on the graphics card and CPU cooler start. We also plugged in case fans and RGB and that all gets powered on. Though there isn't any signal to the monitor. The motherboard box came with "Ryzen 3000 series ready" printed on it, but we tried an older CPU to make sure.

Attempted troubleshooting:

- Switching RAM sticks

- Alternating RAM slots

- Only one RAM stick, as well as none

- Reseating CPU

- Using a different CPU (Ryzen 5 2600)

- Booting with only CPU, cooler, and GPU

- Readjusting power connectors

- Using a different GPU

 

System Specs:

- Gigabyte B450 Aorus M

- Ryzen 5 3600 w/ stock cooler

- Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4-3200 (8x2)

- EVGA RTX 2060 KO

- HP EX950 500gb SSD 

- EVGA 600W 80+ Certified

Sounds DOA. Return the board imo.

Can a motherboard be dead if all the fans start, the RAM's RGB turns on, etc.?

Yes. 

 

You could try as a last resort to plug in the little speaker on front panel and see if you get any beep codes.

The PC speaker can be found at ebay for about 2 dollars if you dont have one.

Ah ok. My cousin did try to plug in a speaker and there wasn't any beep codes. Thank you for your help, I'm going to get in contact with Amazon for a replacement.

Literally same thing happened to me with my new build today. Can only think it's a doa motherboard unfortunately so will be getting it replaced.
