Since my PSU (i guess its my PSU) is causing my computer to not boot probably, I need a new one. I did the method of CPU + GPU + 50 I saw in the pinned thread and got to a value of around 260.

I saw the PSU tierlist but there are so many choices. Also a lot of the listed PSUs are not available here currently.

My goal is to replace the default PSU that already was built into my computer when I bought it. I dont want to spend much money, since the computer is pretty old already.

Any recommendations out of these ones?

Thermaltake Munich 430W

Thermaltake TR2 S 450W

Chieftec GPB-400S 400W ATX23

Sharkoon SilentStorm SFX Bronze 450W

Chieftec PSF-400B

Other recommendations are appreciated as well.

Also since I know nothing about electronics.. will my system consume more power if I use a PSU that can handle more wattage than necessary?

Thank you

I would not go with chieftec or sharkoon, ive never heard of them so I wouldnt trust them even if they had five stars.

PSUs usually blow up months down the line and most reviews are probably made before it. I'm not saying they will blow up. just that they might

You pc not booting could be so many things, a dead drive, dead mobo, dead cpu, dead ram, dead psu, corruption, and so on, what makes you so sure its the psu? In my opinion never get a off brand psu, if it faults badly it can fry your whole system, my brother has always said that thermaltake psu's arent good quality at all, but they might have improved since he's been into pcs,I would suggest corsair, like this one: (https://www.newegg.com/corsair-cv-series-cv450-cp-9020209-na-450w/p/N82E16817139251?Item=N82E16817139251&Description=corsair 400w&cm_re=corsair_400w-_-17-139-251-_-Product&quicklink=true)

I have to ask a few questions.

1. Do you know the model number for your PC? (for example: Dell Optiplex 3040) I'm assuming it's a prebuilt.

2. What country are you shopping from? This is important since some places, like the US, has different stock than somewhere like Singapore.

3. What is your budget in your currency? I know you don't want to invest too much into an old PC, so the budget is somewhat important to help you find PSUs on online retailers you might not know of.

And to answer your question, no. The PC draws the same amount of power regardless of the PSU.

Its a bit of a weird problem. If I switch my computer on after it wasnt in use for multiple hours, it first seems to start normally. The fans are running normally for a few seconds, then the system turns completely off for like 3-5 seconds and then it turns on again. After that, the fans running normally again. But nothing happens. Monitor gets no signal. Keyboard is not lighting up. No POST beep. Mouse is lighting up though.

Usually what I do now is let the system running for a while, then turn it off and then try again. If I'm lucky it works. If not, I need to turn it off and on multiple times until it works. Maybe its worth mentioning that the short power out I mentioned is only happening when the computer was turned off for multiple hours. If I turn it off and on again, there is no power out at all.

Also once I get the system to boot up, it runs completely fine. No issues at all. No crashes, no overheating, nothing.
