Hi i have a hp envy 13 ad013na and my original charger has broken but i have a replacement on the way and i realised it had a usb c port so then i plugged in a functioning wire and plug and it doesnt work any reason why?

Having a USB-C port doesn't mean it can charge from it, usually if there's a separate DC jack it can't.

If you want to charge and use your laptop with usb-c charger, it needs to be usb PD certified charger. Otherwise if you use a normal phone charger, turning the computer off and leaving it charging overnight should work, if your laptop supports very slow charging.
