Curious for Upgrades

So I'm like really new here and I've been thinking of getting a new GPU, my current one is here: https://us.msi.com/Graphics-card/Radeon-RX-580-ARMOR-MK2-8G-OC/Gallery

This is paired with an i5-7600 and 16gb of ram.
I've been looking at the RTX2070 but I'm not sure about going that high as I only have a 1080p monitor (for now).
Anybody got any good suggestions for what i should look at or get.

You'll want a new CPU as well. For now - wait. September will bring 2 new generations of GPUs and one new CPU generation. That should be your goal.
