Hi guys,

I'm looking to have a New PC built for me but I'm having trouble deciding on whether I should go with a Mini-ITX build or a regular ATX build. My purpose for this computer is to replace an older 6 year old PC that I do video editing on as a hobby. I use Sony Vegas Pro and I don't think I would need to add an additional hardware down the track but I'm not quite certain of that. Also the two PC cases I would use for either build are the BitFenix Prodigy (ITX build) and the new Thermaltake Urban S31. Both cases are quite aesthetically pleasing and so that also is why it's make it difficult for me to decide.

If you would like details of either build please just ask and I'll be more than happy to add them.

I'm assuming the bitfenix prodigy is up there because it looks cool and it seems to be a very popular option now a days

however, a full ATX Build would benefit on many levels, including more expansion slots and more ram slots.

However if you're actually going down the mini-itx path due to size, i would probably recommend even smaller cases such as the Silverstone FT03B-Mini

but up to you :) and the poll :P

Would you recommend a full ATX case over a mid ATX case?

To give a better comparison. Would your recommend the Fractal Design Define R4 over the Fractal Design Define R2?

Here's the question you should ask yourself. Why would you not use an ATX board? Are you limited on space and need a smaller case for an ITX board? Why limit yourself using an ITX board unless you actually need to save space?

Do you need to have tons of water cooling capabilities and the ability to hold 9 HDDS? Then, use a full tower, otherwise use a mid tower for an ATX build.

I think it would be safe to assume that 90% of gaming computers that are built are in mid towers using an ATX motherboard.

Thanks for your help. Yeah I've decided to choose an ATX build as I feel it's better to future proof myself if I ever want to add any expansion cards like USB 3.0, capture card etc, so ATX I've decided is the better way to go.

Do you know how I go about closing this topic and poll?

Hey does anyone know if there is a performance difference with going with 12GB memory vs going with the full 16GB? If so how big of a performance difference is there?

unless your actually using it due to large videos with tons of effects, intense multitasking (photoshop, maya, and sony vegas open at once),or to pre-render large videos there will be little difference.
