Second display wont work with mac os

Hey all,

 

Really at a loss here and been trying to get my ASUS VS238H-P to work with my girlfriend's mac book pro 2013 on the latest OS, It will not work on my mac book pro either. 

 

I've done all the regular trouble shooting and I've narrowed it down to the difference being mac os. The monitor even works in bootcamp windows 10 on the same computer, it also works with my desktop windows machine.

 

I'm trying to use HDMI, I don't have the dongles or cables to try and see if VGA, Display Port, or DVI work.

 

Any ideas? Thanks!
