Hi everyone I am custom watercooling my ryzen 2700x and I got a small amount of thermal compound of my cpu pin  my dad has built multiple pcs and I have built 2 he said leave it as the thermal paste has an extremely low conductivity I have since put it back in and mounted my waterblock. In your opinion will it work? I haven't booted it as I needed more fittings thanks for all your help

howdy and welcome :)

Probably.  Your dad looked at it and it sounds like he has some experience.  what kind of paste was it?  Many are not electrically conductive but a few are.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

It was the wraith prism paste as I was removing it from the processor

He’s very likely right then.  I doubt AMD uses liquid metal or silver fill powder in their freebie paste.
