Hello all,

I've been having a weird issue of my computer shutting off while playing video games or running heaven benchmark. I've replaced the PSU, and the GPU already thinking those could be the issue. I feel like it's some heat related issue but I can't quite figure out where it came form.

I tried monitoring temperatures while running heaven but nothing was out of the ordinary. Neither the GPU or the CPU is above 70c.

Any idea what I could do to figure out the issue? I don't have any more hardware to try and trouble shoot.

Specs:

FX8350

GTX 970

EVGA 600W 80plus psu

GIGABYTE ga970a-ud3

2x4gb ddr 3 ram

Thanks for the help

edit: the only way i can boot after the crashes is if I turn off the power supply button and wait about 5 seconds.

Have you checked the thermals of your GPU & CPU?

Are all of your drivers updated?

Kinda sounds like a motherboard issue though.

As i mentioned in the post neither the GPU or the CPU goes above 70 degrees c. I just uninstalled and reinstalled every driver and also did a clean install of windows a week ago.

Has this issue been happening for awhile and consistently or is it semi random even if you are using the said applications?

So it used to happen very randomly not at all often, I think it's something heat related because as the temperature got hotter it happened more. But it also could be that the part is just dying. I switched the ram spots and it worked for about a week but it started again today even worse then before. Also my graphics card (another 970) died two days ago. Not sure if that would be related.

Have you considered maybe replacing the motherboard? That whole gen of motherboard for the AMD lineup was pretty shakey from what I remember.

It's fairly odd that all of your components would all start having having issues around the same time even if they were semi-dated. I'd start with the most common link.

Because you already replaced the PSU, I'd look into the possibility that your motherboard might be experiencing issues.

It's hard to get am3 motherboards. I don't know which one to go for and what prices are good. I don't want a second hand one because this was second hand and it might be the issue.

I posted this on new builds but I'll ask you too. At microcenter they have a deal now to sell i3 9100f + motherboards. I could get that plus 8gb of ram for $150. Is that a good enough deal?

Makes sense but I'm really tight on money. Even getting $150 might take months

Edit: this computer is only for Valorant and Overwatch. My laptop is what I work from so I don't need anything other then run Esport games
