M.2 ssd not detectable by PC

Go to solution Solved by Immortal1zed,

I actually just fixed it. By plugging my hdd in. Not sure why, because it still booted off of my ssd.

Mobo: Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 5
SSD: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LY154MY

I just moved all of my components into a new case. My boot drive is a 250gb WD M.2 SSD. I have windows installed on it and have used it for nearly 2 years now.

When I had everything put back together, I tried booting it up and it said to insert a bootable drive and reboot. I booted it into the bios, and it had the M.2 drive as #1 in boot priority but would not boot to windows.

I had moved the GPU to the second slot because I broke the holding tab off of the first one, but never changed the location of the m.2 drive. So, I moved it to a different m.2 slot (I have 3) and now it won't show in the boot list at all. The PC boots straight into the bios when I turn it on. My HDD has been disconnected this entire time.

The drive will not show up in the tab of the bios where I'm supposed to configure m.2 drives. It does show in the list of SATA ports (see pictures).

I've tried disabling CSM, disabling secure boot, reinstalling the drive to its original location, and I managed to fix the GPU holder and relocated the GPU and m.2 both to their original locations. Still won't detect the ssd. I've also tried putting a bootable USB in and it reads that, but not the SSD.

Is my ssd dead? I can't test it right now and I don't want to buy a new one yet.

M.2 can have a weird relationship with some sata ports.  It’s possible if you have something plugged into a sata port it is recognized but the m.2 isn’t.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.
