Having an issue with installing CPU cooler need some help

The motherboard is a ASUS AM4 X570 TUF Plus. The cooler is the Arctic Freezer 34 Esports duo. 

 

I have some pics of my issue.

The cooler sits level right on the CPU. But it won't go down far enough so I can screw on the little thumb screws. They basically have nothing to screw onto.

Now when I took off the black mounting brackets for the AMD cooler the backplate did come off. But I just held it on and put the bolts in. I believe I put it on the right way. It's the side with the black metal facing out. There is this white thing on the other side of the backplate. Should I remove that or leave it on? It's not that thick.

Anyway some help would be appreciated greatly. I would like to move on with my build and maybe I can get it done some time tonight or tomorrow.

I really wanted to use that cooler.
 
I also checked the Arctic installation guide for this and it shows it sitting further down on the mounting screws. Not little nubs sticking up.

yes I am. I am using the AMD Am4 standoffs that Arctic said to use. 

 

The one 115X standoffs would be used for Intel motherboards.

I tried them all just a while ago. None of them will work with the backplate except the AMD AM4 bolts. 

 

I just sent an email to Arctic. I have to say I am really doubting the quality of their products or the quality of their hardware. I tried to install this same cooler on an intel 115X board back in January and the backplate wouldn't fit. Unless Arctic has any answers for me I will just install the stock cooler. I heard the stock Wraith Prism cooler can be kind of loud. I will only keep it till I can find a better cooler and it won't be from Arctic. I think I am done with them.

I would be concerned as well. This is the second board that this cooler won't fit on. The first board was an ASUS Intel 1151 board. The little black plastic mounting bracket just wouldn't fit on the back of the board and over that black metal plate on the back. Now it won't fit on this ASUS AM4 AMD board. 

 

It seems like it doesn't like ASUS boards. 

 

I plan to call Arctic in a few hours and talk to them. I imagine around 9:00 am or so. I suspect it is a quality control issue, a very bad one that they should sort out cause it's pretty pathetic. 

 

Just hold onto your receipt and make sure you buy it from some place that will take it back and give you a refund if it doesn't work.

So I called Arctic and told them what the issue is and they said they would send me a backplate that has longer screw holes that the standoffs screw into. Hopefully it works. It's going to take 2-3 days they said so I won't be able to work on my build till then. I am going to wait for the backplate to come. 

 

Anyone else thinking about trying the Arctic 34 Esports Duo on their AMD build and if you have problems call them and they might send you the backplate.

You shouldn't have to do that. Arctic knows there is issues cause they have a special backplate they will send you if you call and complain. It has extended thread holes where you screw in the standoffs. I am not pushing on my board cause these ASUS X570 boards are hard to get right now I am not going to break it. I will watch the video anyway though. So thanks.
