I have a Surface book 2 15" 1060. I had bought it hoping it to be my do-all device, but it ended up just becoming another laptop for me since the tablet has such poor battery life but worse of all, there's no kickstand even though microsoft practically invented the kickstand... I run around the house with the tablet for portable tv purposes, and it's my bed wind-down device (which after the book failed to cut it is being performed by a surface go decently enough)

So i've been looking for a gaming tablet or 2 in 1. here's the rub:

1. NOT looking for a tablet that can connect to a gaming core (external GPU). I can't lug my core around to my work for example. GPU needs to be part of the package if only sometimes (like only when connected to the keyboard)

2. really looking to have a kickstand built in. The book has kickstands you can buy, but they're either terrible or cases that choke the already poor cooling. Either that or one of those foldable laptops that can hide the keyboard behind the screen to use as a kickstand or a reverse base with the keyboard facing down.

3. obviously not looking to spend $6k+. The Asus mothership had me drooling, but my money flushing has it's limits and $6k is about twice as much as i'd like to spend.

4. BUT doesn't have to be terribly powerful. I'm not that hard core of a gamer, i just can't stand Intel's built in graphics making my skyrim look like a cartoon... So an I5 would be fine and 1650/1660 would be just fine (like the book 3)

I realize i'm asking a lot particularly with a decent battery on the tablet portion. but I figured others might be doing the whole part-time GPU thing the book does, plus that offers better cooling by separating the two oven silicons. like a surface with vega on the cpu or even a discrete GPU on the surface (i shudder at the cooling though) would be great.

2in1's aren't really designed for gaming, they're more for a work/productivity standpoints.

From my understanding 2in1's also swap from the external GPU, to an iGPU in the tablet mode. I don't know of any 2in1s that have a dedicated GPU in the laptop portion itself, as well as in the tablet. They're not really designed for that.

You're just asking for way too much out of a 2in1 unless you want to drop big bucks on something like a Mothership. The mothership also appears to have everything built into the "tablet" and basically just has a detachable keyboard. Most other designs from my understanding are like the Surface, where it's almost the opposite, and the detachable tablet is just that, a tablet. And is more meant for taking notes, drawing, etc, etc. Not intense workloads.

right, i don't think i explained well, i'm basically looking for a surface book with a kickstand, or a surface book-like 2in1 that has a dGPU. The surface book 2 is already almost perfect for me except for not having a kickstand when you remove the tab.

I believe you can buy kickstand cases for the SB2. I own a 13.5" and I've also tried to look for something similar to you, but came up with the Mothership as the only thing close to it. The Book is a very unique device

Mini-ITX Desktop: i9-9900K@5GHz, 32GB TridentZ RGB 3200MHz, Asus Strix Z390-i, EVGA 3090 Hybrid FTW3, Samsung 970 EVO+ NVMe 1TB, Lian Li O11 Air Mini White

Plex/Minecraft Server: Dell PowerEdge T320, Xeon E5-2470 v2, 48GB RAM, 19.25TB storage, RTX A2000 6GB

Tablet: iPad Pro 11” M1

Yeah i mentioned that though, most cases kill cooling for the tablet stuff (like CPU) even those that claim they don't stiffle airflow they're full of crap (talking 15" i don't know if 13" environment is the same) I really dont feel like taking a case on and off, at that point i'd just carry a separate tablet holder around or something, and that's just not what my first world tushy wants to do...

Ahh, the 13" is passively cooled so there's no fan to block. I don't know what options you have then
