Greetings all.

I was told to question here. So here it goes.

I have been looking for a way to secur my pc.

By that I mean, no password. I come across some Gadgets that look good, but are they?

the idea is in case of need to go out of the room fast i dont need to type a password and when i get back, do it again.

I know theres the keywords we can use to "block" it and when we return we just enter the password, but is there not a wireless range thing?

I saw this one

that seams to be it.. but does it work right?

have a nice day and thanks for your time

so what your trying to do is sort of physically lock and unlock the computer?

I can't think of a completely secure way to do this without having to enter say a number combination of some kind...

I was thinking about this sort of thing the other day, I was thinking that you could setup an arduino or something inside the computer with a relay that completely disables certain components if you say enter a code or push a button on a wireless remote or something...  You could for example, fairly easily create a system that disables front panel usb when you push a button on a remote. So if you had your keyboard and mouse plugged into the front panel, it would appear to anyone trying to access your computer that its not working...

To be honest, if you have to leave a room quickly, windows key + L locks your computer.

But if you want to render it unusable, make it so it needs a USB to start (basically, you load windows or whatever on to a USB).

Also, if you do the USB thing, is suggest you use TrueCrypt to encrypt the drive that is in your computer.

And finally, why would you need to leave your computer quickly?

Good suggestion, but then hes gonna need a big usb and hell need to reboot everytime he pulls it out and plugs it in wont he?

Do you have a phone with Bluetooth?

Windows 7 has Bluetooth Proximity Lock Utility preinstalled. It automatically locks after the distance you specified and then automatically unlocks the computer when your phone gets back in range again.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for or not, I don't use it so I can't tell you if it works or what not. On my work machine, I use a fingerprint reader.

EDIT: Looking at it, it has some damn cool features though. Kills the keyboard/mouse and can take pictures. hmmmm. :P
