Hello, i'm currently saving up for a threadripper 3960x+gigabyte aorus master and i was wondering for 32gb ram would  it be better to have it in a 2x16 or 4x8 configuration since the board has 8 ram slots? Im currently looking at a kit of corsair dominator platinum 3466mhz cl16 ram and if it matters i plan on overclocking the ram for benchmarking.

I would honestly reccomend Micron ram (Crucial) or Samsung B-die ram. AVOID Hynix based ram at all costs.

Performance wise id recommend the 4x8, but honestly the 2x16 allows more upgradability.

They just work better on AMD systems. For instance i have had 3 Hynix Ram kits, NONE have worked at their XMP settings with my 3800x. The Micron set i was allowed to test but give back worked literally first try at 4000 mhz. I cant even get my 3600 mhz kit from hynix to run past 3400 mhz without BSOD on restarts, let alone getting into bios half the time.

B-die Tends to Really good at overclocking, but the new Micron Ram as feature on buildzoids channel did Really good, id imagine youd get 3800 or so and be fine :)

Id honestly reccomend 2x16, so incase you ever need more ram you have that option.
