Budget (including currency): 2000 (+/- 500) GBP

Country: Cyprus / UK

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Any high end AAA game. Various engineering related CAD (computer aided design), CAM (computer aided machining), Image Rendering  and FEA (finite element analysis simulations)

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

So my current rig, roughly 7 years old now has the following specs.
CPU: i7-4770K 3.5 GHz

GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 770, Asus direct CU II

Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth Z87 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

Memory: Corsair Vengeance Pro 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR3-1866 Memory (x2) - total of 16GB

Power: CORSAIR TX SERIES MODULAR TX850M - 80 PLUS BRONZE CERTIFIED 850W HIGH PERFORMANCE MODULAR PSU

What I'm aiming to upgrade to will require the complete replacement of all the components. Literally a "from scratch" build. I wont be reusing anything from the old rig.
Upgrade plan:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X

GPU: GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER (any manufacturer, preferred is Asus, open to suggestions)

Motherboard: ASUS ROG X570 Crosshair VIII Hero WiFi (also open to other suggestions)

Memory: Any 32 GB DDR4 setup. I believe the minimum to avoid CPU bottlenecks with the 3900X is 3200Mhz ( I could be wrong though), personal preference would lie around 3600Mhz CL 14-16 or more/better, but cant say i know that it will make for a better, faster or more responsive system. Open to any and all suggestions,

Power: whatever is necessary at 80 Plus Gold, should be a minimum of around 500W but possibly up to around 700W, in case for future upgrades, such as 2x GPU.

Now the main question I have at this moment is that, if I were to buy the 2070 Super GPU first, would I be able to use it on my current rig, or will i have issues with compatibility? (not concerned with bottlenecks too much)

If yes, what would you suggest as a worthwhile GPU upgrade for my current rig?

Please leave any feedback that you think may be of any help regarding the new setup and any further suggestions.

Yeah sure, you could get a 2070 for your current rig. Just remember to remove the drivers for your current GPU using DDU in windows safe mode, and than proceed to installing the new card. Getting a new PSU is also a good idea. Here's the tier list:

I would recommend something at least A grade.

Great, thank you very much. I would most likely go with the RMx 650 then, mentioned by 5x5, as it meets the power requirements and falls into the A grade category.
