So i have a GA-970A-UD3 which supports dual channel memory, and 2 G.skill ripjaws x 1866 4 GB sticks. When I seat them in a way that would support dual channel, it only registers 6 GB and says 3.98 is available. However, when I put the sticks in the slots right next to each other, then it registers all 8 of it. So i am wondering- does it have to do with the dimm slots themselves? it just kind of happened one day, but do i need to update anything to fix it?

welcome to the LinusTechTips forums and the CPUI/Motherboard/RAM section!

are you getting this information about RAM capacity from your UEFI or windows properties?

My question is, how do i get to the uefi?

UEFI is the BIOS screen you go by default. Unless you have either older mobo or have chosen to use legacy (like me).
