Need help

I have a gaming laptop that is the rog GL502Vm and I recentely bougth a monitor 1440x2560 165hz, also from asus.

My monitor runs at 60hz and thats because it is linked to my pc by HDMI port. This monring i noticed that it has a mini DP port. Does it make a diference in my refresh rate if I link the monitor to my pc via mini DP Port?
