Multiple Monitors Help (weird setup)

Go to solution Solved by Deddie,

So I've got a 3 "monitor" setup right now (2 monitors and my tv) and I'd like to add a small monitor or tv dedicated to stuff like Nickreboot and Toonamiaftermath but I'm not entirely sure what the best route would be to do this. I've got an i7-2600k, Asrock z77 pro4 motherboard, and an Asus 7850 2GB-v2 gpu. Currently 1 monitor's on DVI, the other's on displayport (displayport-to-DVI), and my tv's on HDMI all from my GPU. My question is can I run a tv off of the HDMI from my motherboard? Or should I run a monitor off of the empty DVI on my GPU? Can the 7000 series even do that? I know I should know this stuff but it's never been a concern to me until now.  :(

Don't think you can run a secondary monitor off the motherboard while using a dedicated GPU.

Just plug it in the GPU, it will work, AMD even lists that it can support 6 displays (probably if you use a Displayport multi-stream adapter).

I looked into the displayport stuff and it looked expensive. I'm borrowing a TV with VGA input from a friend and so far it's working off my motherboard. Just need to setup audio now but frankly this is enough. I'll mark your post as solved though since you were the only one to reply.  ;)

Do you mean VGA from the motherboard is bad or it isn't bad? I found an older Dell 4:3 monitor (E176fp) on Craigslist for $14 that I'm gonna go pick up which only has VGA. It's just a side monitor so it should do what I want just fine.
