Computer wont recognise HDD

Go to solution Solved by TheTechGenius,

Yeah, most of the time with new Hard Drives, they are not formatted for the system to use it. If it is detected in Disk Management, then all you need to do is, open "Disk Management" or "Computer Management and go to Disk Management", right click the Hard Drive that is not detected in "My Computer" and format it. It should now be assigned a drive letter, and be seen in "My Computer".

New build. I have 2 SATA cables and 3 SATA devices. So after installing windows I unplugged the CD drive and plugged in the HDD. OS is installed on the SSD and the system recognises that but it wont recognise the HDD please help!

The year is 20XX. Everyone plays Fox at TAS levels of perfection. Because of this, the winner of a match depends solely on port priority. The RPS metagame has evolved to ridiculous levels due to it being the only remaining factor to decide matches.

Only Abate, Axe, and Wobbles can save us.

Does it show up in Disk Management? You may need to format it.

I think it;s plugged into port 1 and the SSD is in port 0

Looking right now

Make a partition on the HDD.

Looking into it

That is great! I'm glad that you got everything working. And i'm sorry for not specifying to use NTFS for formatting the drive, I completely forgot to add that. But that is good you used google to find the answer to that question. Have fun with your system!

Yea if only. It's for a friend of mine so I won't be able to enjoy it for to long. At least it's good practice for when I build one 10X better for myself :D
