Yes as idle has about two thousand background tasks running.

Also, MSI Afterburner isn't accurate with Zen readings. Only HWiNFO and Ryzen Master are.

Also, the overclock is hurting performance as auto with PBO enabled will likely give you better performance in games

same problem here, temps are a joke, sometimes they sit at 40C idle sometimes at 50C, sometimes a 60C, sometimes i open a game and i get 70C , 1 hour later the same game gives me 85C WTF , last night i was playing WoW for like 1 hour and temps never go above 70C , this morning i open the game and temps reach 80C in 5min , men i start feeling that buying this piece of s... was such a mistake

Your cooler is not mounted properly. That reading is impossible for a properly mounted cooler

Also make sure the paste application hasn't been ruined by fingerprints or anything - really, the stock stealth is not the best but it should be under 80 while under heavy load. Also update your BIOS/chipset drivers and make sure PBO is disabled and the fan isn't set to silent.

Well i reinstall the cooler 2 more times and nothing change, i even try a different thermal aplication tecnique this last time (spreading it) but its the same. Bios and chipset drivers are up to date, pbo is disable from bios and fans are set to "standard". To be honest i dont care that much about those max temp numbers (80c even 90c in cinebench20) what really got me worried are the temp spikes, it can reach 70c for a few seconds while im browsing

RMA the board and CPU then. Something is very very wrong I'd you're getting 90c at stock in a Game considering most people don't reach 80 in a torture test

I think i just found what could be the origin of problems of those high max temp... the tempered glass panel 😅, i removed it and now it berely reach 80c on cinebench 20 (used to be 90c) so i may need a new fan  that pull the hot air out of the case(phantek p350x). Now the only thing that left are those temps spikes , for example now playing a game with the case open i get 60c, but it randomly reach 70c for a second sometimes.

edit: Actually i think its not random, is almost like a cycle , every minute or so, it increase 10c (from 60 to 70) and then quickly decreases to normal

How are you tracking thermals? Could be the application firing load calls when pinging

Is it normal for CPU temps on Rzyen 3600 to fluctuate this much?

image.png.5d29ff7d8a5d4fdb6c756a1276200a74.png

Can be more than 10C during idle.

Using a Cooler master Hyper 212 and OCed to 4150 MHz at 1.3V.

Thanks.

what @5x5 said and also (and that includes people that are trying to troubleshoot)  there is no "much" fluctuation in this screenshot..

yes it has highs and lows and its not a flat-line but that's absolutely normal

Its nearly impossible to have a flat temp line while not being on the extreme end of usage (like 100% and 0%)  the fluctuation here is +-5 degrees which is nothing it could be (besides what 5x5 said) due to your room changing slightly in temperature, airflow

and the property of mass and how it exchanges temperature meaning that when you see a spike in the CPU usage (on bottom left of the screenshot) it doesnt mean that temps are going to spike exactly that way they will spike and then degrease at a slower rate unless an other CPU usage spike occurs which means the two spikes will increase even more the temp...

but then your fan is going to spin more etc what I am trying to say its that its a very complicated system with lots of variables and minuscule temp differences especially if they are on the safe side shouldnt bother you.

Also a big problem. hWmonitor has been broken on Ryzen and was never fixed. Move over to Ryzen Master

Wow you are right, actually with the ryzen master temps are sit to 60C while gaming, i cant not belieave that all the programs i have for monitoring were wrong, whwmonitor, afterburner and even the gigabyte smart fan 5 also showed me spikes , unbeliavble, thats all then man, thanks for all your help i feel so relieved right now.

One last thing.... temps spikes while opening multiple tabs of browser those are normal right? just a quick spike

Of course - that is load after all. Thermals are never a flat line. They are always fluctuating.

And yes, for AMD, only Ryzen Master and HWiNFO are accurate. For Intel you can add Real Temp to the list. HWMonitor, CPU-Z, Afteburner - all are broken messes when it comes to CPU and power values.
