Ram questions :S

Hi, i have a question (and probably a stupid one), i have an ASUS P9X79 with  KINGSTON HyperX Beast DDR3 8GB(2x4) 1866Mhz , one friend of mine upgraded his ram and gave me his old one that is one Vengeance 8GB (1x8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz. i am a noob in hardware stuf so , my question is if i can have 16gb of ram by simply installing it in my motherboard ?

yes but it would have to be the IDENTICAL ram kit. Your mobo can support up to 64 GB of ram.
